Collaborating with the Dutch EU Presidency
Labour mobility in Europe and the contentious issue of undeclared work were topics that were high on the agenda at the recent meeting of Employment and Social Affairs Ministers in Amsterdam on 19 and 20 April 2016. Eurofound, as part of its support and collaboration with the EU Presidencies, provided a background note on the issues surrounding undeclared work for the informal EPSCO meeting. Director Juan Menéndez-Valdés also contributed to the session, drawing on the Agency’s research in these areas. The meeting, which also explored the proposal for the introduction of the European Pillar of Social Rights, took place under the Dutch EU Presidency which has seen several other contributions from Eurofound to its events, including to the informal EMCO on the role of the social partners in the framework of the Semester and to the informal SPC on the topic of ‘integrated approaches to combat poverty’.
Work is already underway for further collaboration with the Slovak EU Presidency which will take over the reins in the second part of this year, including planned contributions for the informal EPSCO scheduled to take place in Bratislava on 14–15 July. Furthermore, a high-level delegation from Estonia will visit Eurofound this month as part of their preparations for the Presidency chair in January 2018.
