Findings in Figures - Eurofound News July/August 2016
Some interesting figures from the July/August edition of Eurofound News:
13,000 – the entire workforce of Marinopoulos, one of the largest supermarket chains in Greece, who have been made redundant as a result of the company’s bankruptcy.
22% – the gender pay gap in the Czech Republic, which in March 2016 prompted the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs to launch a five-year campaign to narrow the pay disparity between men and women.
1,000 – the number of workers that the Italian state-controlled road management group Anas intends to hire between now and 2020; 900 will be blue-collar jobs in road repair and construction.
2,400 – the job cuts LSG Sky Chefs, the catering subsidiary of airline Lufthansa, plans to carry out in Europe by the end of 2021; 1,700 of these jobs will go in Germany.
47,000 – the estimated number of asylum-seekers looking for work in Austria in 2016.
