Impact of COVID-19 in the spotlight as Eurofound set to host EU Heads of Missions in Ireland

Eurofound, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Ireland (in the framework of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union), will host a meeting of the EU Heads of Missions in Ireland on Tuesday 28 September. The Agency will present the most recent results from its research on the social, employment and quality of life implications of the COVID-19 pandemic across all EU Member States.

The welcome address will be delivered by H.E. Stanislav Vidovič, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Ireland, followed by Eurofound’s new Executive Director, Ivailo Kalfin. The event will draw together the Ambassadors of EU Member States in Ireland, Heads of the Representation of the European Commission and the European Parliament in Ireland, as well as representatives from Eurofound’s Management Board.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Ivailo Kalfin noted the important opportunity the event presented for coordination and discussion between diplomatic representatives in Ireland, and with the representation offices of the European institutions, 'This is the first on-site event to be organised at Eurofound in over 18 months, and the first under my mandate as Executive Director. It will be an important opportunity to take stock of the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on this island and Europe, as well as to discuss visions for the post-pandemic future of Europe.'

The event will be webcast from Eurofound's website, at the link below, at 11:00 am IST (12:00 CET) on 28 September:
