Europe Day 2022 – All About YOUth!

Press release -

Europe Day 2022 – All About YOUth!

Eurofound, in partnership with the European Parliament Liaison Office in Ireland and the European Commission Representation in Ireland, will celebrate Europe Day with a hybrid event on 9 May from 9.00 to 11.30.

2022 is the European Year of Youth and this event will reach out to the local community to bring together up to 100 young people aged 16-29, as well as an online audience from around Ireland, to learn, listen and engage on key issues and opportunities for young people in the EU.

The Minister for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne T.D. and Ciarán Cuffe MEP, will open this hybrid event at Eurofound’s conference centre, which will be moderated by Harry McCann, Member of the European pool of young journalists.

The war in Ukraine places Europe Day 2022 in a unique and particularly significant context. In this difficult time, we stand together in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. The Ambassador of Ukraine to Ireland, Ms Larysa Gerasko, and two young people from Ukraine living in Ireland will address the event.

Journalists can register here, by noon on Friday 6 May, to get the link to join this event online via MS Teams. We are looking forward also to welcoming reporters and media crews in person to the event which will be held at the Eurofound premises in Loughlinstown.

Please reply to James.Higgins@eurofound.europa.eu to request access to the event at Eurofound.

The programme for the event is available here.
